The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is committed to supporting the health and well-being of our nation’s service members, veterans, and their families. There are over 2 million people serving in the Active or Selected Reserve components of the United States military and over 20 million living veterans. Having basic knowledge regarding the values, structure, policies, and expectations of the military can promote a stronger client-provider alliance and help you develop the skills you need to provide the most effective clinical care.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the uniqueness of military culture in society.
2. Develop tactics to build rapport and help serve Veterans.
3. Better understand needs specific to the Veteran population, and how to best provide services based on those needs.
